DAX Open-day

About this time there was a series on satellite "A car is born", in which one of the TV vets built a Sumo kit over a period of weeks. It was interesting to watch this and see the quality of the kit and it's construction. I trawled round the websites and came up with 3 potential kit suppliers Sumo, DAX and Gardner Douglas. Of the 3 suppliers, DAX seemed to provide the best balance of price vs. quality and as thier open-day was coming up, I decided to attend...

In the May of 2000 I drove from S.Devon to the open-day at the DAX factory in Harlow, not a short trip!

I must admit the factory was not what I imagined but there were plenty of cars and they all gleamed! I had a good look over the demonstrator but there was just too much to take in all at one time. The best thing about this kit was that you could buy the body in a finished state with a gell-coat colour of your choice, although as it turned out later there was a 'misunderstanding' here!!

Anyway, I was happy enough to fill out the order form for the chassis pack and a drove home a happy man, knowing that a life long dream was about to come true!
